Prerequisites

The Microsoft Azure Architect Design course is suited to IT professionals with prior experience of designing and implementing Azure solutions. You should have knowledge of areas including networking, virtualisation, identity, security, business continuity, disaster recovery, data platform, budgeting, and governance. In this course you will use the Azure Portal and the Command Line Interface. You should have prior expertise in Azure administration, Azure development, and DevOps processes.

Overall, the knowledge needed to benefit from this course includes:

  • on-premises virtualisation technologies, including VMs, virtual networking, and virtual hard disks
  • network configuration, including TCP/IP, Domain Name System (DNS), virtual private networks (VPNs), firewalls, and encryption technologies
  • Active Directory concepts, including domains, forests, domain controllers, replication, Kerberos protocol, and Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP)
  • resilience and disaster recovery, including backup and restore operations

Module 1: Design a compute solution

In this module, you will learn about the appropriate compute technologies, including virtual machines, App Services, Service Fabric, Azure Functions, Windows Virtual Desktop, and containers.
